Six Wakes
By: Mur Lafferty
My Rating: Four out of Five Stars
Best for: 16 and up
Clue. In space. With clones.
Scene: 6 clones awake to find themselves alone on a ship traveling through deep space with no memory of the previous 25 years…and find their previous bodies have been murdered. One of them is a killer. All of them have a tainted past. None of them can remember what happened.
This was a fun, closed-room murder mystery. The kind of science fiction that is light on the science and heavy on the fiction, but you don’t really care because you’re trying to solve the puzzle before the big reveal.
Ethics. Cloning. Secrets. Clues. Red herrings. AI. Murder. Space. Who did it? Was it me?
Separate backstories that all tie together in the end. The kind of thing that makes you want to read it again to see what clues you missed the first time.
I enjoyed Six Wakes. Had some language. 16+
Happy Reading!

I think I had this on my tbr and then took it off when I read a short story by Lafferty in a collection of short stories. Ah well, that’s how it goes sometimes 🙂

It was fun, but not special. Don’t need to feel like you’re missing out.
