Sabriel (Abhorsen #1)
By: Garth Nix
My Rating: Four out of Five Stars
A young friend told me recently this was an all time favorite, so I wanted to check it out.
The verdict: It’s good! Once I got past the author’s tendency to use overly dramatic descriptions for…everything, I found a unique story with cool magic, strong characters, and a world with much left to still explore in future books.
Sabriel’s father is Abhorsen, mankind’s defender against the dead.ย When Abhorsen goes missing, Sabriel must use the skills her father taught her to travel to Death, bring him back–and save the world.
I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Recommended for 12 and up.
Happy Reading!

I know exactly what you mean! I want EVERYONE to love my favorites as much as I do. This was fun. Now that I’ve finished Oathbringer, I can move on to book 2. I hope they keep getting better!

I brought this for my son at christmas. I’m looking forward to seeing what he thinks of it and whether he recommends it to me. So far he’s been a very good judge of books!
