Loved the story…

…Hated the vulgarity and language. I get that war sucks, so I can live with the gruesome realism. But the the crude language was too much…it was unnecessary.

On the other hand, I felt like this author knows Russians pretty well. The story was great, and I loved that part. I lived in Russia for two years as a missionary, so especially enjoyed the added perspective this book added to my personal experiences there.

Read it if you love a good story. Skip it if you aren’t interested in the gruesome details of war or are sensitive to crude topics and language.
