4/5 stars
Timebound (The Chronos Files, #1) by Rysa Walker
Well, I’m impressed!
I feel like I’m always singing the praises of Amazon and Kindle. No exaggeration, probably 80% of the books I read this year I never would have found on my own. And if not for Amazon publishing, many of the books I loved the best over the last couple of years would have never seen the light of day.
Rysa Walker’s Timebound is yet another great book I owe to Amazon Publishing and Kindle. The story is great…honestly I can’t believe this is a debut novel. The time traveling plot is quite complex; I had to work pretty hard to keep it all straight (which in this case I felt was a good thing). Plus there’s a love triage forming of Edward/Jacob proportions that I know is going to drive some people absolutely insane with anxiety! I was engaged throughout and I can’t wait for the next installment!
In fact, I broke my own rule about starting a series before the last book has been written–and now I remember why I have that rule. The ending isn’t a cliffhanger (thankfully), but it does leave me wanting to know the rest of the story and waiting for sequels is definitely not my strong point.
My only criticism (and what keeps me from giving the 5th star) is that the love story is too fast and furious for me. Not really age appropriate for the 16 year old star of the show.
But don’t let that stop you! Just keep it out of the hands of your kids until they are 15 or 16 or so!
