The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Ahh, The Hobbit! This was actually my second time reading it–the first time I was a young teenager. I usally remember pretty well the details of the books I read, but for some reason with The Hobbit I didn’t remember much at all. Most of my memories of the story seem to come from that old animated movie–and now I’m beginng to wonder if I actually read the book at all!

At any rate, The Hobbit is considered a classic for good reason. The story was first published around 70 years ago, and I found it to be as fun and exciting as any modern fantasy story I’ve come across today.

If you’ve never experienced The Hobbit, this is a good time to jump in. The first part Peter Jackson’s two part movie comes out in 2012.

I’m now off to read The Lord of the Rings!
